Aluminum – Heat treatment of heat-treatable alloys

In connection technology, the requirements for materials and components are high: they must be lightweight, resilient, and stable—even under demanding conditions. To ensure that our customers’ parts meet these standards and the required quality, the heat treatment of hardenable aluminum alloys is a central component of our range of services.

At ESKA, we use our modern, continuous belt furnace system from Aichelin for heat treatment to ensure that your parts meet the required standards.

This enables us to provide precisely controllable heat treatment for high-quality fasteners and precision parts.

Heat treatment as a service

Our process is specially designed for heat-treatable aluminum alloys. During heat treatment, we proceed in the following three coordinated process steps:

  1. Solution annealing: The alloy is heated to a temperature at which the soluble phases dissolve into a solid solution. The time and temperature are interdependent.
  2. Quenching:  Rapid cooling (quenching) locks the dissolved elements in a supersaturated solid solution by preventing precipitation.
  3. Annealing: During ageing (artificial or natural), the supersaturated solid solution decomposes and finely dispersed precipitates form, which strengthen the alloy.

Advantages of heat treatment at ESKA

  • Precise temperature control (control range with ±2°C tolerance)
  • Automatic quenching process in the quenching bath immediately after solution annealing
  • Uniform and controlled aging
  • High throughput thanks to continuous conveyor system
  • Pre-treatment possible thanks to integrated washing system
  • Wide range of parts can be processed – from fasteners to complex aluminum components
